Emory & Henry Volleyball Releases 2015 Schedule

EMORY, Va. – Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team has completed its 2015 season schedule, Head Coach Devyn Bayes announced Thursday. The Wasps will play 29 matches during the regular season for the second year in a row.

"I am very excited about the schedule we have this coming season," said Bayes. "My focus this year was on adding tougher regional competition to the schedule to prepare us better for our conference matches."

E&H will begin the season on Tuesday, September 1 with a fourth-straight trip to take on the Panthers of Ferrum College. The Wasps will stay on the road for the weekend with four matches at the 21st Annual Averett Cougar Classic in Danville, Virginia.

Emory & Henry will open the home portion of its schedule and Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, September 9 when Roanoke College visits the John Rutledge King Center at 7:00 p.m.

The Wasps will return to the road for second weekend of the season, playing four matches on the campus of Greensboro College from Saturday, September 12 to Sunday, September 13. A trip to Athens, Tennessee on Wednesday, September 16 to face Tennessee Wesleyan College will conclude the first portion of the schedule for Emory & Henry.

The bulk of the 2015 slate of contests begins with a visit to ODAC power Washington and Lee University on Wednesday, September 23. A trio of tri-matches over the next three weekends interspersed with mid-week conference contests will put the Wasps to the test against several strong regional opponents.

Three-straight ODAC road matches await E&H during the third week of October, as the Wasps will travel to Lynchburg on Wednesday, October 14 and play both Randolph-Macon College and Virginia Wesleyan College on the R-MC campus on Sunday, October 18.

Emory & Henry will complete its schedule with four of its final six matches at home, including three in conference play. The Wasps will host Ferrum (Tues., Oct. 20 – 7:00 p.m.), Hollins University (Wed., Oct. 21 – 6:30 p.m.) and Shenandoah University (Sat., Oct. 24 – 2:00 p.m.) before a final tri-match at West Virginia Tech on Tuesday, October 27.

The Wasps' regular season finale and Senior Night is set for Thursday, October 29 against Guilford College at 6:30 p.m.

"Our players know that this season comes with higher expectations now that we are past the first year, and I believe this schedule will put us in the right place to continue growing all throughout the season," Bayes added.

The quarterfinals of the league's postseason tournament will take place on Wednesday, November 4 at the higher seeds with the semifinals and final scheduled for Saturday, November 7 at the highest remaining seed after the quarterfinals.
