HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (15-11, 5-4 ODAC) assured itself of a winning season Wednesday evening as it defeated Eastern Mennonite University (10-18, 2-9 ODAC) by a 3-0 sweep.

The highlight of the night came from senior outside hitter Tristen Pennington (Kingsport, Tenn.) reaching not only one, but two career milestones. Pennington finished the match with seven kills and nine digs, breaking the school record for career kills (973) and eclipsing the 1,000-dig mark for her career.

How It Happened
- E&H built to a 17-14 lead midway through the opening set and scored eight of the final 11 points of the frame to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
- The Royals led by a 9-4 score early in the second stanza but the Wasps battled back to tie things at 16-all during the middle of a 7-1 run which resulted in a 20-17 lead. EMU got within one at 23-22, but Emory & Henry closed out the set for the 2-0 lead in the match.
- The third act was all Wasps as the jumped out to a 6-2 advantage early. With the score at 11-5, E&H went on an 8-1 run for a 19-6 lead. The two squads traded points for a short time before Emory & Henry reeled off four of five to put the match to a close, 25-11.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- In addition to Pennington's seven kills and nine digs, senior middle Kennady Thomason (Chattanooga, Tenn.) had nine kills, four blocks and two aces while junior outside hitter Ali Singleton (Mount Jackson, Va.) added nine kills as well.
- Sophomore middle Kate Franklin (Blountville, Tenn.) posted six kills on .455 hitting (6-1-11) while senior right-side hitter Hannah Doss (Meadowview, Va.) and sophomore outside hitter Tori Holmberg (Wake Forest, N.C.) tacked on five kills each.
- Junior setter Sarah Scott (Collinsville, Va.) dished out 17 assists and sophomore setter Sam McCauley (Glade Spring, Va.) turned in 15 assists, two aces and five digs.
- Senior libero Emily Hinshaw (Boone, N.C.) finished the match with a team-high 13 digs.

Eastern Mennonite Individual Leaders
- Becca Hardy had eight kills on 15 swings while Maria Yoder added five kills.
- Jasmine Johnson notched 13 assists and five digs while Erin Mays chipped in 11 assists and four digs.
- Skyler Johnson posted a match-high 14 digs.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry attacked with a .265 percentage (41-14-102), hitting a match-best 13-3-25 (.400) in the third set.
- EMU managed just 31-17-102 (.137) for the contest, only breaking .200 during the second set.
-  The Wasps had eight service aces and four digs in the contest compared to two aces and three blocks by the Royals.
- E&H also held a 44-38 advantage on digs.

 Up Next
- Emory & Henry will play in its final home match of the regular season on Friday when it hosts the West Virginia University Institute of Technology at 6:30 p.m. The Wasps defeated the Golden Bears by a 3-2 score earlier in the season.
- The match will also serve as Senior Night for E&H, which will honor its six seniors prior to the start of play.
