Emory & Henry Volleyball Rallies Past William Peace, 3-2, Tuesday At Home

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (3-4) rallied from two sets down to claim a 3-2 victory over William Peace University (4-5) Tuesday evening at home. Three different players reached double figures in kills for the Wasps.

How It Happened
-The two teams battled back and forth for the opening portion of the match with E&H taking a 13-10 lead. WPU then went on a 12-2 run to take control and held on for the 25-18 win.
- The second set was much like the first with the squads trading points out to a 13-all tie. The Pacers then scored 12 of the next 13 including 11 in a row for a 25-14 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
- Emory & Henry stormed back in the third as a seven-point serving run by junior outside hitter Savanah Keesee (Madison Heights, Va.) put them up 7-2. Leading 15-11, Keesee served another 10 in a row for a 25-12 win.
- The fourth saw E&H take an 8-4 lead early and continue to build its lead with a pair of three-point runs late as the Wasps tied the contest 2-2 with a 25-15 set win.
- In the deciding stanza, Emory & Henry started out up 3-1, but four in a row by William Peace made it a 5-3 score. The Wasps battled back and saw ties at five, nine, 10 and 11 before the Pacers went up 14-12 with the match in their grasp. Four straight points by E&H including two blocks but junior right-side Carley Williams (Bristol, Tenn.) and freshman middle Samantha Worthy (Arden, N.C.) sealed the victory.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Williams lead all players with 15 kills and added four blocks while sophomore middle Hannah Watson (Kingsport, Tenn.) posted 14 kills on a .429 (14-2-28) hitting percentage.
- Freshman outside hitter Camden Jones (Bristol, Va.) had 10 kills and eight digs while Worthy finished with six kills and seven blocks.
- Junior setter Marissa Snapp (Chuckey, Tenn.) dished out 39 assists and had eight digs and Keesee was one off the E&H record with eight service aces.
- Sophomore libero Sarah Moore (Kingsport, Tenn.) tacked on 15 digs as well.

William Peace Individual Leaders
- Georgia Grace Anderson and Kelsey Bierbauer had 11 and 10 kills, respectively to lead WPU, as Shelby Cooper had nine kills five aces and 16 digs.
- Mackenzie Russell went for 37 assists and completed the double-double with 13 digs while Logan Moore tacked on 12 digs.
