Emory & Henry Volleyball Blanks Brevard, 3-0, Monday At Home

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (4-5) picked up its first three-set win of the year Monday evening, defeating Brevard College (1-8) by scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 25-18. The Wasps sweep the season series with the Tornados as they earned a 3-1 win on Thursday, September 2 to start the season.

Monday's match served as the Wasps' annual Throwback Night where the team wears vintage jerseys from the program's past.

How It Happened
- BC started the match with a 4-1 run but E&H battled back to tie the contest 8-all. A 7-1 run later in the frame by the Wasps made the score 18-12 as they rolled to a 24-16 advantage. The Tornados didn't go quietly as they pushed for six in a row, but a kill by freshman outside hitter Camden Jones (Bristol, Va.) ended the set for the Wasps, 25-22.
- The squads went back and forth early in the second frame with Brevard leading, 12-10. Eight straight points for E&H made it 18-12 as part of a larger 15-3 run to take a 2-0 lead in the match, 25-15.
- Brevard opened up a 7-4 advantage but Emory & Henry tied things up at 11-11. A 7-1 run by the Wasps made it an 18-11 contest as they cruised to a 25-18 set win and the match.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Jones led all players with nine kills and added seven digs and two aces while junior right-side hitter Carley Williams (Bristol, Tenn.) had eight kills, three blocks and three digs.
- Sophomore middle Hannah Watson (Kingsport, Tenn.) went for eight kills on a .429 (8-2-14) hitting percentage with two blocks.
- Junior setter Marissa Snapp (Chuckey, Tenn.) dished out 17 assists as freshman setter Paige Halcrow (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) went for 12 assists and two aces. Sophomore libero Sarah Moore (Kingsport, Tenn.) chipped in eight digs and four aces.

Brevard Individual Leaders
- Ashley Hoxit led the Tornados with six kills while Makenna Parkins and Kaitlyn Pressley had five kills, six assists and three digs.
- Bailey Lance notched seven digs while Logan Priddy had seven assists and four digs.
