Emory & Henry Volleyball Blanks Johnson & Wales, 3-0, Friday At Home

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (5-8) picked up a 3-0 victory over Johnson & Wales (N.C.) University (8-6) to open play in the Wasps Classic Friday afternoon. The Wasps won the match by scores of 25-14, 25-13 and 25-11.

How It Happened
- The two squads battled to a 5-all tie to open the first set before E&H scored five in a row to lead, 10-5. The Wasps continued to push the advantage, using a seven-point scoring run to go up 18-9, and cruised to the 25-14 win.
- Emory & Henry scored the first five points of the second and extended their lead to seven at 10-3. A five-point scoring run in the late in the frame made the score 17-8 as E&H put up eight of the final 10 to win, 25-13, and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
- The third stanza was all Wasps as they opened up a 5-0 lead for a second time and used a six-point run to go up 14-4. Five straight points later in the set made it 21-7 on the way to a 25-11 win and the sweep in the match.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore middle Hannah Watson (Kingsport, Tenn.) led the Wasps with nine kills and added five blocks and two aces while sophomore right-side hitter Brianna Hogan (Front Royal, Va.) had eight kills and two blocks.
- Freshman outside hitter Camden Jones (Bristol, Va.) went for seven kills, nine digs, two aces and two blocks as junior outside hitter Savanah Keesee (Madison Heights, Va.) had four kills and 10 digs.
- Junior setter Marissa Snapp (Chuckey, Tenn.) dished out 22 assists to go along with six digs while freshman setter Paige Halcrow (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) contributed 10 assists.
- Sophomore libero Sarah Moore (Kingsport, Tenn.) went for six digs.

Johnson & Wales (N.C.) Individual Leaders
- Mikayla Tucker led the Wildcats with six kills and six digs while Isabelle LeMaster tacked on six kills of her own.
- Logan Smith dished out 10 assists as Lynasia Felder went for nine digs.

- Emory & Henry will be back in action on day two of the Wasps Classic Saturday when it takes on Regent University at 10:00 a.m., and Bob Jones University at 3:00 p.m.
