Emory & Henry Volleyball Rallies To Defeat Greensboro, 3-2, On Dig Pink Night Thursday

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (9-11) battled back from two sets down to earn a 3-2 win over visiting Greensboro College (14-12) Thursday evening at home. The match also served as the Wasps' annual Dig Pink night in support of the Side-Out Foundation for breast cancer research.

How It Happened
- Greensboro stormed out to an 8-1 lead in the opening set but Emory & Henry scored seven in a row to tie things up at 8-all. The two squads then battled back and forth with the Wasps going ahead 21-18. Five of the next six went the way of the Pride as they took a 23-22 lead and battled through another pair of ties for a 26-24 win.
- The second frame was similar to the first with 12 ties and six lead changes. With the score tied at 14, the Pride scored two in a row to take a lead they would not give up. GC pushed the advantage to 23-19 and held on for the 25-22 victory and a 2-0 lead in the match.
- The Wasps jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the third but the Pride answered to tie things up at 6-6. Down 11-8, Greensboro went on a 5-0 run to go up 13-11, but E&H put together a 7-3 run to retake the lead, 18-16. Emory & Henry slowly extended its lead thanks to a four-point serving run by freshman setter Paige Halcrow (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) and won the set, 25-19.
- The two squads went back and forth through seven ties and six lead changes to a 14-all tie. Emory & Henry scored 11 of the next 12 to take the momentum in the match and tie the set score, 2-2, with a 25-15 win.
- The Wasps jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the fifth but the Pride bounced back with a 7-1 run to go ahead, 8-5. Following a timeout, Emory & Henry finished on a 10-2 run to claim the victory, 15-10.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- E&H saw three players reach double figures in kills led by freshman outside hitter Camden Jones (Bristol, Va.) with 15 kills on a .441 hitting percentage (15-0-34) with 16 digs to complete the double-double.
- Junior right-side hitter Carley Williams (Bristol, Tenn.) had 15 kills and six blocks while sophomore middle Hannah Watson (Kingsport, Tenn.) posted 13 kills, six blocks and two aces.
- Junior setter Marissa Snapp (Chuckey, Tenn.) put up 18 assists and 10 digs as Halcrow went for 17 assists, 12 digs and three aces.
- Junior outside hitter Savanah Keesee (Madison Heights, Va.) notched four kills, three aces and 13 digs as sophomore libero Sarah Moore (Kingsport, Tenn.) three aces and 13 digs.

Greensboro Individual Leaders
- Hailey Stout led all players with 21 kills, 11 digs and nine assists while Carly Uhlir had 13 kills, 13 digs and five aces.
- Mckenzie Norris dished out 43 assists and had 14 digs while Lauren Kunke posted 15 digs.
