Emory & Henry Volleyball Earns, 3-0, Senior Day Win Over Bluefield State Sunday

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (10-11) picked up a 3-0 win over visiting Bluefield State College (8-9) Sunday afternoon at home. The match also served as Senior Day for the Wasps, who honored Ashley Clayton (Durham, N.C.), Keely Doyle (Lexington, Va.) and Delaini Nagy (Clover, S.C.) prior to the start of the match.

How It Happened
- The Wasps got out to a 9-4 lead in the opening set but the Lady Blues battled back to go ahead, 10-9. E&H scored five in a row to regain the advantage and used an eight-point serving run by freshman setter Paige Halcrow (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) to go ahead 22-13, and cruised to the 25-18 win.
- Emory & Henry again got out to an early lead 7-3 and went two-for-one against Bluefield State out to a 19-10 advantage. Trailing by 12 (24-12), the Lady Blues scored five in a row, but the deficit was too much to overcome as the Wasps went up in the match, 2-0, with a 25-17 victory.
- The third stanza was more of the same as E&H opened up a 4-1 lead. BSC got within two at 9-7 but the Wasps slowly increased the margin to eight (22-14) after a 4-0 run late in the set. Five in a row by the Lady Blues trimmed the lead to 22-19 but the Wasps scored three in a row to take the set, 25-19, and the match.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Nagy put up a team-high eight kills, hitting .467 (8-1-15) while junior right-side hitter Carley Williams (Bristol, Tenn.) went for six kills.
- Clayton and freshman outside hitter Camden Jones (Bristol, Va.) each had five kills while Jones added three aces, three blocks and 12 digs.
- Sophomore middle Hannah Watson (Kingsport, Tenn.) went for four kills, four blocks and three aces while Halcrow finished with 14 assists, two aces and six digs.
- Sophomore setter Sarah Moore (Kingsport, Tenn.) led all players with 18 digs while junior outside hitter Savanah Keesee (Madison Heights, Va.) went for 12 digs.

Bluefield State Individual Leaders
- Kateryna Dashevska posted a match-high 14 kills and made it a double-double with 15 digs and three service aces while Danielle Baker notched five kills.
- Veronica Butler had 16 assists while Anna Esquivel and Taylor Sams had 13 and 12 digs, respectively.
