Emory & Henry Volleyball Defeats Carolina Univ., 3-1, Tuesday Evening On The Road

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (13-11) rallied from one set down to pick up a 3-1 win at Carolina University (10-8) Tuesday evening. With the victory, the Wasps take the season series from the Bruins.

How It Happened
- CU jumped out to a 5-0 lead to start the match and pushed its advantage to 13-3. Down by an 18-8 score, the Wasps scored eight of the next nine to close the gap to 19-14 but the Bruins responded with six of the final nine to win, 25-17.
- In the second, Emory & Henry got out to a 10-5 advantage and used an 8-2 run to go up 18-9 as it cruised to the 25-15, tying the match score, 1-1.
- The third set saw the Bruins take a 6-0 lead early. Down by an 18-12 score the Wasps finished on a 13-3 run for a 25-21 victory and a 2-1 lead in the match.
- E&H went up 10-7 early in the set but CU bounced back with a 6-2 run to lead, 13-12. With the match tied, 14-all, Emory & Henry scored nine of the next 14 to take a 23-20 advantage. The Bruins scored the next two to get within one, but the Wasps closed the match with two kills and a 25-22 win.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior right-side hitter Carley Williams (Bristol, Tenn.) had a team-high 12 kills to go along with three blocks while sophomore right-side hitter Brianna Hogan (Front Royal, Va.) added eight kills.
- Freshman outside hitter Camden Jones (Bristol, Va.) put up seven kills, two aces, two blocks, and 15 digs while sophomore middle Hannah Watson (Kingsport, Tenn.) and freshman middle Samantha Worthy (Arden, N.C.) each went for five kills.
- Freshman setter Paige Halcrow (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) dished out 19 assists to go along with four aces while junior setter Marissa Snapp (Chuckey, Tenn.) contributed 15 assists. Sophomore libero Sarah Moore (Kingsport, Tenn.) led all players with 17 digs.

Carolina Univ. Individual Leaders
- Destinee Hardamon notched a match-high 15 kills while Chiara Mottola also hit double figures in kills with 10.
- Kamra King registered 28 assists and three aces while Sarah Pickett had six kills and 12 digs.

- Emory & Henry will play its final home match of the year on Friday when it hosts Bluefield University at 6:30 p.m.
