Emory & Henry Volleyball Splits Day One of West Georgia Tournament

CARROLLTON, Ga. – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (2-3) defeated Saint Augustine's University (0-2) before falling to host institution the University of West Georgia (4-1) on day one of the University of West Georgia Volleyball Tournament. The Wasps topped the Falcons by a score of 3-1, then dropped a 3-1 decision to the Wolves in the nightcap.

The Saint Augustine's Match
- Freshman outside hitter Grace Duey (Tega Cay, S.C.) posted 11 kills, three digs, three blocks, one assist and one service ace. Senior right-side hitter Brianna Hogan (Front Royal, Va.) had a match-high 13 kills and two digs in the win.

- Sophomore setter Payton Rolfsen (Fort Wayne, Ind.) recorded a match-high 45 assists, seven digs, four service aces, two blocks and a kill. Junior libero Grace Nelson (Murphy, N.C.) led the Wasps with a match-high 16 digs, four assists, two service aces and a kill. 

The West Georgia Match
- Duey once again led the offensive attack with nine kills, seven digs and two blocks while fellow freshman right-side hitter Abigail Chadwick (Brentwood, Tenn.) contributed six kills, five digs, one block and an assist. Sophomore outside hitter Julissa Hopgood (Lutz, Fla.) added seven kills and 12 digs.

- Rolfsen had another big game with a match-high 30 assists, eight digs, five kills, two blocks and two service aces. Nelson tallied a team-high 18 digs and an assist.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry wraps up the University of West Georgia Tournament on Saturday with two more matches. The Wasps will take on Concord University for the second time in less than a week at noon, before facing Georgia College at 2:00 p.m..
