Emory & Henry Volleyball Defeats Lincoln Memorial, 3-1, For First SAC Win Tuesday

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Volleyball Team (3-7, 1-3 SAC) earned its first South Atlantic Conference win of the season on Tuesday night with a 3-1 victory over Lincoln Memorial University (6-7, 0-3 SAC). The Wasps topped the Lady Railsplitters by scores of 27-25, 25-19, 14-25 and 25-22.

How It Happened
- The teams traded blows early in the first set and the Lady Railsplitters held a narrow 15-13 advantage at the midway point. LMU reached set point at 24-20, but the Wasps roared back to win seven of the final eight points and junior outside hitter Sophia Kaiser (Stafford, Va.) slammed the door with a service ace for the 27-25 set win.
- The second frame was another close affair that was even at 12-12. The Wasps picked up five of the next seven available points to take a 17-14 lead, forcing a Lady Railsplitters timeout. E&H never looked back, posting a .440 hitting percentage during the set to take the second stanza 25-19.
- LMU responded in the third set. The Lady Railsplitters were dominant in the third, as they recorded 19 kills and just two errors to take the set by a 25-14 margin.
- Lincoln Memorial took the 14-12 lead in the fourth, but the Wasps answered with seven straight to jump in front. LMU mounted a rally to tie things up and the squads continued to go back-and-forth down the stretch. E&H opened up a gap and sophomore middle Gracyn Miller (Lilburn, Ga.) smashed a kill to clinch the set and match, 25-22.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior right-side hitter Brianna Hogan (Front Royal, Va.) led the offense with 14 kills, four digs, one block and an assist. Kaiser finished with nine kills, six digs, five service aces, three blocks and an assist. Senior middle Hannah Watson (Kingsport, Tenn.) contributed four kills and seven massive blocks in the win.
- Sophomore setter Payton Rolfsen (Fort Wayne, Ind.) had a team-high 20 assists, nine digs and two kills while sophomore setter Logan Newberry (Glade Spring, Va.) posted 11 assists, six digs and a pair of kills off of the bench. 

Lincoln Memorial Individual Leaders
- Ketura Margaret recorded a match-high 18 kills, two digs, two blocks and a service ace while Kristin Moehring had 17 kills, seven digs and a block.
- Amanda Lisi dished out a match-high 37 assists and had five digs.

- Emory & Henry returns home on Friday, September 22 to host Newberry College for Greek Night. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
