Limestone Volleyball Fells Emory & Henry, 3-1, In SAC Play Friday

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Limestone University Volleyball Team (6-4, 4-3 SAC) defeated Emory & Henry College (3-9, 1-5 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference play by a 3-1 score on Friday evening. 

The Basics

How It Happened
- The Saints took the lead early in the first set as they established a 12-8 advantage, but the Wasps responded with six consecutive points to pull ahead 14-12. Limestone answered with six of the next seven to retake the lead and held on for a 25-22  opening-set win.
- The second stanza was another closely-contested affair and the two squads were all square at 15-15 at the midpoint. The Wasps utilized five service aces to reach set point and freshman outside hitter Grace Duey (Tega Cay, S.C.) slammed home her seventh kill of the night to clinch the second set 25-22.
- Limestone got off to a hot start in the third as they ran out to an 8-2 advantage, forcing an E&H timeout. The Saints kept their foot on the pedal the rest of the frame and rolled to a 25-13 win.
- The home squad once again took another early lead in the fourth set and they held a 9-3 advantage. LU continued their hot play in the fourth and closed out the match with a 25-18 victory.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Duey finished with a career-high 13 kills, two digs and two blocks while junior outside hitter Sophia Kaiser (Stafford, Va.) had seven kills, six digs and three service aces. Sophomore middle Gracyn Miller (Lilburn, Ga.) contributed seven kills, five digs and a pair of blocks.
- Sophomore setter Payton Rolfsen (Fort Wayne, Ind.) recorded a match-high 23 assists, eight digs, two services aces, one block and a kill. 

Limestone Individual Leaders
- Mia Martinez had a match-high 14 kills, two digs and a pair of blocks. Tatum Riddle posted 12 kills, 13 digs, four assists and two blocks.
- Jenna Szabelski had 21 assists, four digs, three service aces and a kill in the win for the Saints.

Up Next
- E&H steps out of conference play tomorrow afternoon to take on the Flying Fleet of Erskine College. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. from Belk Arena.
