MARS HILL, N.C. – The Emory & Henry University Volleyball Team (2-13, 0-8 SAC) fell to Mars Hill University (5-7, 3-3 SAC) in South Atlantic Conference play Friday night. The Lions completed the season sweep of the Wasps by scores of 25-18, 25-10 and 25-15.

How It Happened
- The teams went back and forth to begin the opening stanza and the Lions clung to a narrow 9-8 advantage. The home team utilized a 9-4 run over the middle part of the set to balloon the lead out to 18-12, but the Wasps answered back with six of the next eight points to draw back within a pair at 20-18. MHU closed the set out with five consecutive points to jump ahead in the match 1-0.
- It was all Lions in the second frame as the home squad won the first 13 points of the set and never looked back as they earned the stanza win 25-10 and increased their lead out to two sets to none.
- The Wasps ran out early in the third set as they held on to a 7-5 advantage in the early stages. MHU responded with an 8-3 run to vault ahead 13-8. E&H attempted to chip away at the deficit, but the Lions had an answer for every question the Wasps asked as the home squad rolled to the set win 25-15 and took the match 3-0.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Freshman outside hitter Tori Boling (Tega Cay, S.C.) paced the Wasps with a career-high eight kills, four digs and a block. Fifth-year outside hitter Brianna Hogan (Front Royal, Va.) added six kills, five digs and an assist while fifth-year middle Hannah Watson (Kingsport, Tenn.) finished with two kills and a pair of blocks.
- Fifth-year libero Libby Bickelhaupt (Fort Myers, Fla.) recorded a team-high 16 digs and two assists to go along with junior setter Logan Newberry's (Glade Spring, Va.) team-high 14 assists and a dig.
Mars Hill Individual Leaders
- Jada Cannon led the offensive attack with a double-double of 12 kills, 11 digs, four blocks and an assist. Katilyn Grant posted 10 kills, four blocks and a pair of digs while Nikkayla Stewart registered seven kills, two blocks and a dig.
- Mackenzie Schmucker had a match-high 21 assists, eight digs, three kills and an assist. Laela Jimenez contributed a match-high 28 digs, six assists and a kill in the win.
