How It Happened
- The match was tight at the start and the two teams were all square at 8-8. The Bears then went on an 8-3 run through the middle stage of the set to establish a 16-11 lead. LR pushed its advantage out to 20-14, but the Wasps stormed back with five of the next six points to close within a pair at 21-19. The Bears closed out the set with four consecutive points to take the opening set.
- The visitors from Hickory jumped on the Wasps to start the second frame, running out to a 13-6 lead. E&H managed to reduce the deficit to five at 16-11, but LR posted five straight to increase the margin out to double digits. The squads alternated points as the Bears took the frame 25-15.
- Lenoir-Rhyne once more began the third set on the front foot as they held a 15-10 lead at the midpoint. LR finished the set on a 15-3 run to take the set and the match 25-13.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Fifth-year outside hitter Brianna Hogan (Front Royal, Va.) led the Wasps with six kills and five digs while junior middle Gracyn Miller (Lilburn, Ga.) added five kills, three digs and a service ace. Sophomore front row Grace Duey (Tega Cay, S.C.) tacked on three kills and a block while freshman outside hitter Tori Boling (Tega Cay, S.C.) had two kills and three digs.
- Freshman setter Zoie Pace (Collinsville, Va.) had a team-high nine assists, five service aces and four digs while senior libero Grace Nelson (Murphy, N.C.) finished with a team-high 11 digs.
Lenoir-Rhyne Individual Leaders
- Averie Dale paced the Bears with a match-high 10 kills, six blocks, four digs and a service ace. Jenna Vogen added nine kills, eight digs, three blocks, three service aces and an assist.
- Brooke Aeschliman finished with eight kills, 10 digs, three service aces and an assist. Sydney Karjala posted 10 assists, five digs and a service ace.
