Emory & Henry Women’s Wrestling Takes Fourth At Robert Horton Open Sunday

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Wrestling Team kept rolling with a fourth-place finish at Emmanuel (Ga.) University's Robert Horton Open on Sunday afternoon.

109-Pound Weight Class
- Freshman Mallory Howard (Millington, Tenn.) finished tied for fifth, going 1-2 on the day. She fell to Grace York from Presbyterian 12-2 to start the day and also lost by fall (1:43) to Campbellsville's Gabrielle Madeiros. Her victory was a forfeit win against Jillian Lackey from Allen.
- Freshman Haley Viars (King William, Va.) suffered a pair of losses by fall to Emily Fleckenstein from Mount Olive and PC's York.

116-Pound Weight Class
- Freshman Natalia Sanchez (Powhatan, Va.) lost in her opening round bout 12-2 to Charlee Shuler from Presbyterian. She pinned Jordan Muncy from Lincoln Memorial in 48 seconds before exiting the event following a loss to Kaci Bice from Life (2:55).

123-Pound Weight Class
- Freshman Madison Wilson (Henrico, Va.) got things started with a 10-0 technical superiority win against Jillian Timberlake from Mount Olive. She moved to the consolation bracket after losing to Emmanuel's Evelyne Vazquez in 1:02 and lost in 1:59 to Makayla Correa also from Emmanuel.

143-Pound Weight Class
- Junior Skie Roulo (Chesterfield, Va.) grabbed an opening round win against Liberty's Claudia Keanini (4:11). After losing in the quarterfinals to Sofia Vergara from Emmanuel (5:07), she tore through the consolation bracket to place third. Roulo earned four straight victories by fall in 1:29, 3:54, 1:54 and 2:44.

155-Pound Weight Class
- Freshman Molly Keller (Fairlawn, Va.) picked up two wins early in the tournament, defeating Savannah Pitts from Huntingdon (2:14) and Sierra Chavez from Campbellsville (11-0), to reach the semifinals. She lost to Mount Olive's Nia Miranda in 1:41 to move to the consolation bracket where she won by fall in 2:00 over Emmanuel's Jocelyn Yepez. In the third-place bout Keller fell to unattached wrestler Aalijah Pineda in 5:35.
- Freshman Mak Robinson (Spotsylvania, Va.) picked up a 13-2 technical superiority win over JahMya Hill from Allen in the round of 16. She lost to Jenna Blinkewicz from Lincoln Memorial (1:26) in the quarterfinals and exited after falling to Huntingdon's Savannah Pitts (2:07).
- Freshman Natalie Giocondo (Dumfries, Va.) went 0-2 on the day, losing her opening bout by fall and stepping away due to injury.

170-Pound Weight Class
- Sophomore Katie Gakin (Aberdeen, Wash.) got an 8-0 decision over Riauna Lugo from Huntingdon to get things started but fell to Henlee Haynes from Presbyterian in the quarterfinals (0:39). She won in the second and third consolation rounds by decision (13-4) and fall (2:04) before losing 9-1 to Ta'Niya Roberts to tie for fifth.

191-Pound Weight Class
- Sophomore Brittney Reed (Sandston, Va.) went 0-2 on the day, as lost her quarterfinal bout to Jane Allen of Life in 54 seconds and forfeited to Campbellsville's Lexianna Garcia, tying for seventh.
