Emory & Henry Cross Country Competes At South/Southeast Region Preview Meet Saturday

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams got to see first-hand the course layout for the 2015 NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region Championships Saturday. The Wasps raced in the region preview meet hosted by Shenandoah University at the Kernstown Battlefield.

E&H's men's team placed sixth out of 10 teams competing while the Wasp women turned in a ninth-place finish.

Leading the Emory & Henry men in the 8K race was sophomore Michael Cawood (Louisville, Ky.) with a time of 28:15 to finish 28th while sophomore Michael LoGrande (Alexandria, Va.) was 30th, running a 28:22. Third for the Wasps was junior Alex Cooper (Christiansburg, Va.) in 28:37 (35th) while freshman Austin Tolbert (Wytheville, Va.) was 38th (28:50). Rounding out the top five for E&H was junior Kevin Watts (Fairfax, Va.) in 47th (29:22).

The Wasp women were paced by junior Elizabeth Wilson (Roanoke, Va.) who covered the 6K course in a time of 26:26 for 48th place. Freshmen McKenna Tankersley (Big Stone Gap, Va.) and Kelly Light (Blountville, Tenn.) were 63rd and 64th, respectively, both finishing in 27:43. Sophomore Lindsey Pratt (Marion, Va.) ran a 28:12 to finish 67th while freshman Taylor Henderson (Glade Spring, Va.) was 74th overall (28:27).

Emory & Henry's next race will be the 2015 ODAC Championships on Saturday, October 31. The first gun is set for 11:00 a.m., on the campus of Bridgewater College.
