Emory & Henry Cross Country Finishes The 2015 Season At South/Southeast Regional Meet

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams completed the 2015 season Saturday morning at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional Meet, hosted by Shenandoah University at the Kernstown Battlefield. The Wasp men finished 17th out of 30 competing schools while the E&H women were 22nd out of 27 teams.

In the women's 6K race, Emory & Henry was led by sophomore Meg Greene (Charlotte, N.C.), who ran a 25:13 to finish 95th overall. Junior Elizabeth Wilson (Roanoke, Va.) was second for the Wasps with a time of 26:49 while freshman Kelly Light (Blountville, Tenn.) was third on the team, running a 27:13. Sophomore Lindsey Pratt (Marion, Va.) stopped the watches in 27:40 while freshman Taylor Henderson (Glade Spring, Va.) rounded out the top five for E&H in 28:31.

Emory University won the overall meet and qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships along with second-place Rhodes College. The Eagles placed all seven of their runners in the top 20 including medalist Elise Vox, who won the overall race in 22:05.

Sophomore Michael LoGrande (Alexandria, Va.) led E&H in the men's 8K event, running a 28:42 to finish 87th overall. Sophomore Michael Cawood (Louisville, Ky.) was second for the Wasps in 28:59 while junior Kevin Watts (Stafford, Va.) posted a time of 29:00 to take third on the squad. Fourth for Emory & Henry was junior Alex Cooper (Christiansburg, Va.) (29:22) while freshman Austin Tolbert (Wytheville, Va.) was fifth (29:27).

Emory also claimed the regional title on the men's side with six runners in the top 25 including race-winner Lucas Mees, who ran a 25:46. Christopher Newport University also qualified for the national meet with its second-place finish.

Between the men's and women's races, six different athletes from Old Dominion Athletic Conference schools qualified for nationals as individuals.
