Emory & Henry Women’s Cross Country Picked 10th By ODAC Coaches In Preseason Poll

Emory & Henry Women’s Cross Country Picked 10th By ODAC Coaches In Preseason Poll

FOREST, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Cross Country Team is picked to finish 10th in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference by the league's head coaches, ODAC officials announced Friday.

Under the direction of first-year Head Coach Ian Layne, the Wasps look to move up the ladder and regain their form from two seasons ago. Last year, an injury-plagued squad finished ninth out of 10 teams at the ODAC Championship. With a healthy squad entering this fall and a number of talented newcomers, E&H should vie for a spot in the middle of the pack.

"We are bringing back a lot of women who were sidelined last year due to injuries. With this group of returners and an exciting recruiting class, this team is poised to make a move up in the ODAC this year," said Layne. "We are very fortunate to have Elizabeth Wilson back for her senior season as her leadership will help guide our program to new heights."

Washington and Lee University is picked to repeat as ODAC Champion with 11 of 12 first-place votes. Bridgewater College is second while Roanoke College took the final first-place vote in third. Eastern Mennonite University and Lynchburg College round out the top five.

Emory & Henry will begin the season on Thursday, September 1 Salem, Virginia, to compete against Roanoke in a time trial. This year, Washington and Lee will be the host of the ODAC Championships which will take place on Saturday, October 29 in Buena Vista, Virginia.
