North Carolina Wesleyan Baseball Rallies Past Emory & Henry, 4-3, In 10 Innings Wednesday

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The North Carolina Wesleyan College Baseball Team (10-5) tied the game in the bottom of the ninth and got the winning run in the 10th for a 4-3 victory against Emory & Henry College (2-12) Wednesday.

How It Happened
Emory & Henry got on the board in the top of the first on a single by sophomore left fielder Jacob Zoller (Culpeper, Va.). The Wasps extended their lead to 3-0 in the third on a RBI single by freshman Koty Proctor (Archdale, N.C.) and a sacrifice fly by sophomore third baseman Hayden Milley (Clover, S.C.).

NCWC broke through in the bottom of the sixth on a single by Andrew Nichols. Down to their final out of the game, the Battling Bishops got a pinch hit double from Brad Pennington to tie the game at three and force extra innings.

In the extra frame, North Carolina Wesleyan sat E&H down 1-2-3 before taking to task. The Bishops loaded the bases with one out and Nichols came up with another RBI single to seal the victory, 4-3.

NCWC's Mike Smith earned the win, pitching the final inning of the game. E&H senior Zach Shepherd (Christiansburg, Va.) got the no-decision, allowing just one hit in five innings pitched while sophomore Jordan Smith (Bassett, Va.) suffered the loss, allowing one run on two hits and two walks.
