Intermont Equestrian IHSA Team Wins At Home Saturday

BRISTOL, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IHSA Team placed first or second in 11 of its 15 rides Saturday as it got the spring portion of its season off to a start Saturday at home.

The Results
- Senior Francisco Caba-Guil (Almería, SPAIN) picked up a pair of wins in Open Equitation Over Fences and Open Flat. Junior Bobbie Jo Adsit (Montpelier, Va.) placed first in Open Flat and was third in Open Fences.
-  In Intermediate Over Fences, freshmen Madelyn Lowe (Red Lion, Pa.) took first place with freshman Kylee Bucholz (Cornelius, N.C.) finishing sixth.
- Freshman Hayden Wilkes won at Intermediate Flat while junior Maddie Bonner (Powhatan, Va.) was third.
- Sophomore Sierra Walker (Maryville, Tenn.) and junior Emily Trice (Gainesville, Ga.) were second and third, respectively in Novice Over Fences.
- In Novice on the Flat, junior Carley Gunnell (Haymarket, Va.) was first while freshman Sofia Inchausti (Bloomsbury, N.J.) was second.
- In Walk/Trot/Canter Equitation, senior Delaney Oursler (Hickory, N.C.) claimed the win while junior Cara Brooks (Suwanee, Ga.) was second. Freshman Brinley Thomas (Farmville, Va.) was fourth in Walk/Trot.

The Awards
- Virginia Tech was the team Reserve Champion behind the efforts of Carolyn Rizallzou, who was named High-Point Rider of the Day.
- Caba-Guil was named Reserve High-Point Rider of the Day as he led the Wasps with his pair of wins.

Next Up
- Intermont Equestrian has two IHSA shows left in the regular season and will travel to Virginia Tech next Saturday.
