
BRISTOL, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry University IHSA Team captured back-to-back wins this weekend to close out the fall season, earning a total of 21 blue ribbons.

The Results
- Senior Sara Bender (Camp Hill, Pa.) started the doubleheader weekend with a win in Open Over Fences. Senior Emma Pell (Winchester, Va.) was right behind in second, with senior Mia Sisson (Warren, R.I.) finishing fifth. Open Flat saw Sisson take home the blue, with Pell right on her tail with another second-place finish. Bender rounded out the division with a fourth-place finish.
- Intermediate competition saw senior Ava Harry (Wake Forest, N.C.) snag a blue ribbon, with seniors Emma Gurley (Rutherfordton, N.C.) and Abigail Williamson (Sacramento, Calif.) taking second in their sections. The Flat portion saw Harry add another win to her resume, followed by senior Liv Abbruzzi (Irmo, S.C.) finishing right behind. Williamson added another red ribbon to her collection for the day.
- In Limit Over Fences, sophomore Isabella Oglesby (Virginia Beach, Va.) and senior Maddie Whitley (Stuarts Draft, Va.) both won their sections. Sophomore Grace Simpson (Culpeper, Va.) was fifth. Flat competition saw senior Grace Reynen (Mission Viejo, Calif.) pick up a blue, followed by senior Sierra Smith (Olathe, Kan.) who finished right behind in second. Gurley also snagged a red ribbon on the flat.
- Junior Emma Smith (Red Lion, Pa.) snagged first at Novice Equitation on the Flat. Senior Thomas Carter (Asheville, N.C.) stepped up into the Pre-Novice division and took top call honors.
- Introductory competition saw junior Hailey Thomas (Meadowview, Va.) receive first and freshman Megan Cassel (Marion, Va.) finish just behind in second.
The Awards
- Harry was the Reserve High-Point Rider of the Day while Pell was Reserve High-Point Rider.

- Open Equitation Over Fences started the day with senior Emma Pell (Winchester, Va.) taking home a blue, senior Sara Bender (Camp Hill, Pa.) grabbing a red, and senior Mia Sisson (Warren, R.I.) rounding out the podium finishing third. Open Flat saw Bender take home the blue, with Pell behind with a second-place finish. Sisson rounded out the division with a fourth-place finish.
- Senior Sierra Smith (Olathe, Kan.) opened Intermediate Equitation Over Fences with a win. Junior Erin Ryan (Seven Valleys, Pa.) also took home a blue in her section. Senior Maddie Anderson (Fort Myers, Fla.) earned third in her section. The flat competition saw senior Ava Harry (Wake Forest, N.C.) earn first-place honors. Senior Liv Abbruzzi (Irmo, S.C.) also won her section with senior Abigail Williamson (Sacramento, Calif.) finishing third.
- In Limit Over Fences, sophomore Isabelle Young (Chesapeake, Va.) was first while freshman Riley Barron (Sugar Land, Texas) was second. Freshman Caroline Hall (Bostic, N.C.) rounded out the over-fences portion of the day with a fifth. The flat competition saw seniors Grace Reynen (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and Emma Gurley (Rutherfordton, N.C.) win their sections. Smith finished fourth.
- Sophomore Bailey Shive (Hot Springs, Ark.) was first at Novice Equitation on the Flat. Pre-Novice saw sophomore Hannah Rosen (Falls Church, Va.) add another blue to the Wasp's resume.
- The introductory competition saw junior Hailey Thomas (Meadowview, Va.) and freshman Megan Cassel (Marion, Va.) finish third.

- Bender was High-Point Rider of the Day while Pell was Reserve.
