Intermont Equestrian IDA Team with national champion trophy

LAKE ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Beukema National Team Championship Trophy for the Intercollegiate Dressage Association is returning to Southwest Virginia. The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry IDA Team made it back-to-back national titles and a record ninth overall with their team victory on Friday. It is the fifth time that the Wasps have won the IDA title under the Emory & Henry moniker (2015, 2016, 2018, 2024, 2025) with the previous four championships (2006, 2007, 2010, 2014) coming during the program's time with Virginia Intermont College.

Thursday – Individual Championship
Sophomore Bailey Shive (Hot Springs, Ark.) was the Reserve National Champion at the Introductory Level with a score of 70.938%.

The Wasps had a pair of third-place finishers as senior Sierra Smith (Olathe, Kan.) earned a yellow ribbon at the Upper Training Level (65.100%). Freshman Samantha Nappi (Bedford, Mass.) was third in the Introductory Level on a ride of 69.375%.

At Lower Training, senior Hannah Ferguson (Newport News, Va.) was fourth at 66.538% while senior Meaghan Croteau (Sparks, Md.) placed seventh (64.327%).

Rounding out Individual Day was senior Ava Harry (Wake Forest, N.C.), who finished eighth at the First Level, scoring a 63.381%.

Friday – Team Championship
Harry opened the team competition with an 11th-place finish at the First Level at 65.075%.

The Wasps vaulted up the leaderboard as senior Abigail Williamson (Sacramento, Calif.) won the Upper Training Test on a ride of 67.069% and Croteau claimed champion honors in Lower Training with a score of 68.173%.

Emory & Henry closed out the championship with Nappi placing sixth in the Introductory Level (67.344%).

Saturday – DSE Championship
Sophomore Anna Norton (Charlotte, N.C.) placed fourth in First Level DSE while senior Elly Gurshpun (Rutherfordton, N.C.) was fourth in Lower Training DSE.
