The Moneta, Virginia native and University of Richmond transfer led E&H to a 59-36 win over Ferrum College in the Fourth Annual Crooked Road Classic Saturday. Overstreet got his first start at running back after starting the first nine games of the season at linebacker.
The Staunton River High School graduate made the most of his opportunity, rushing for an Emory & Henry and ODAC-record 324 yards and two touchdowns on 35 carries (9.3 ypc). He also caught a pass for eight yards, giving him 332 all-purpose yards, a number which sits second all-time for the Wasps.
Overstreet's 324 rushing yards is tied for the NCAA Division III lead this year (Wesley Schools – Grove City Coll.) and is tied for third-most across all Divisions of college football (Tyreik McAllister – Univ. of Charleston (W.Va.), 355; Josh Davis – Weber State Univ., 328).
Emory & Henry (7-3, 6-2 ODAC) completes the year with its first winning season since 2016. The Wasps finished third in the league and posted a five-game winning streak between September 28 and October 26.
League champion Bridgewater College (10-0, 8-0 ODAC) received the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Playoffs and will host Delaware Valley College in the first round on Saturday, November 23. ODAC runner-up Randolph-Macon College (8-2, 7-1 ODAC) will take on The Apprentice School (6-3) in the inaugural Virginia Beach Neptune Bowl next weekend.
