Emory & Henry Men’s Golf Eighth After 18 Holes At VSGA Intercollegiate

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's Golf Team sits in eighth place out of 15 competing teams at the 70th Virginia State Golf Association Intercollegiate. The Wasps carded a season-best score of 306 (+18) during Monday's round.

Round One
Junior Wesley Jones (Seymour, Tenn.) leads the Wasps after shooting a +2 (74) to finish tied for 19th on the day while junior Christofer Schaff (Elizabethton, Tenn.) is tied for 24th at +3 (75).

Junior Blake Benson (Knoxville, Tenn.) carded a 78 (+6) which was good to tie for 40th while junior Isfandyar Khan (Lahore, PAKISTAN) is tied for 45th at +7 (79). Freshman Chase Maddox (Amherst, Va.) carded an 85 (+13) on Monday as well.

The Leaders
Harry Hodgert of University of Lynchburg and Averett University's Elias Haavistro are tied atop the field at -5 (67).

Lynchburg leads the field by eight strokes after shooting a 282 (-6) in round one with four players in the top 11 and ties. In second place is Averett (+2) while Christopher Newport University is third (+5).
