Emory & Henry’s Jordan Couch Named ODAC Men’s Soccer Player Of The Week

FOREST, Va. – Emory & Henry College junior forward Jordan Couch has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday.

It is the second time in his career that he has been selected for weekly honors. This also marks the third time in two years that an Emory & Henry player has been recognized by the league.

Couch, a native of Abingdon, Virginia, scored five goals and added two assists in Emory & Henry's two wins last week. In Wednesday's season opener against Ferrum, Couch broke open a 1-0 match with a goal in the 56th minute as E&H picked up the 3-0 win.

Saturday at the University of Valley Forge, the junior found the back of the net four times. It was the first time an Emory & Henry player has scored three or more goals since the opening game of the 2011 season. Couch scored in the third, 13th and 21st minutes to give the Wasps a 5-1 lead at the break. He tacked on his fourth goal of the match with just over a half-hour remaining. He also assisted on goals in the 20th and 25th minutes.

In scoring four goals, Couch tied the Emory & Henry school record for goals in a match. His 10 total points is second in program history. Couch currently leads the ODAC with five goals and in points (12).

Emory & Henry (2-0, 0-0 ODAC) will next take the field on Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m., when it hosts Earlham College at Fred Selfe Stadium.
