Emory & Henry Men’s Soccer Sees Two Named To The All-ODAC Teams

FOREST, Va. – After completing its second-best season in program history, the Emory & Henry College Men's Soccer Team has been recognized with two players on the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference Teams, ODAC officials announced Thursday. The teams were voted on by the 12 head coaches in the conference.

For a second year in a row, junior forward Jordan Couch (Abingdon, Va.) earned All-ODAC Second-Team accolades while sophomore forward Tyequis Stallins (Chesapeake, Va.) was tabbed as a third team all-conference player.

Couch led the team and the ODAC in several offensive categories including goals (21), points (47), shots (89) and shots on goal (53). The junior also tallied five assists and three match-winners on the season. Named the ODAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week on September 6, Couch had a trio of multi-goal games this year including a pair of four-goal performances at the University of Valley Forge (Sept. 3) and at Hiwassee College (Sept. 26). He added a hat trick against Johnson University at home on September 28.

Couch now holds or is tied for Emory & Henry records for goals in a season (21), goals in a career (27), goals in a match (four) and points in a season (47). He is second in the record books for points in a match (10) and career points (63). At the ODAC level, Couch's 47 points in a season tie him for sixth all-time alongside former E&H standout Danny Almond while his 21 goals are tied for third all-time in the league.

Stallins was second on the squad with six goals and added five assists for 17 points, which was third on the team. He also was the runner-up on the squad with 55 shots, including 26 on goal. Stallins posted match-winners on three different occasions, with two-goal games against Shenandoah University (Oct. 8) and at Penn State-Mont Alto (Oct. 20). He also had a goal and an assist against Valley Forge and Johnson.

Emory & Henry increased its win total for a third year in a row, going 10-8-1 overall, just its second 10-win season in the 24-year history of the program. The two wins and one draw against ODAC competition marks the fifth-best conference finish in program history.

Washington and Lee University saw Dylan Ritch named ODAC Player of the Year. League champion Lynchburg College’s Chris Yeager was tabbed as ODAC Coach of the Year while the ODAC Rookie of the Year was Marc Hoppler of Roanoke College. Washington and Lee’s Gillen Beck was voted as the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete.
