EMORY, Va. - The Wasps are back in action on the tennis court. In their first match of the semester, the men's tennis team (0-4) took a 9-0 loss at home to UVA-Wise (2-4).
Doubles
- Dalton Shipley (Gate City, Va.) and Grayson McCarty (Marion, Va.) fell 8-3 at one doubles to start the day off.
- Liam Davidson (Newport News, Va.) and Cooper Garrett (Gate City, Va.) also went down by the score of 8-1.
- Andrew McClung (Roanoke, Va.) and Taylor Hines (Jonesville, Va.) were able to pick up two victories, but ultimately lost, 8-2.
Singles
- Davidson fell in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
- McCarty was took a 6-2, 6-1 loss at two singles.
- At three singles, Shipley also went down, 6-2, 6-1.
- Garrett saw his demise in a 6-0, 6-1 loss.
- McClung was able to rattle off a victory in the first set at five singles, but the junior lost, 1-6, 6-3, 10-8
- Staymon Johnson (Pilot Mountain, N.C.) played in his first match as a member of the men's tennis team. The sophomore fought hard, but lost 7-5, 6-0
The Wasps will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at home on Richardson Tennis Courts in a ODAC matchup versus Washington and Lee.
