SPARTANBURG, S.C./EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (3-1) opened the spring portion of its season with a pair of dual-match wins over the weekend. The Wasps defeated the Pioneers of Spartanburg Methodist College, 8-1, in an exhibition match on Saturday, and claimed a 7-2 win over William Peace University Sunday at home.

How It Happened
Emory & Henry got out to a 3-0 lead after the doubles portion of the match and claimed singles flights two through six. Sophomore Archer Marlow (Oak Ridge, Tenn.), senior Cooper Garrett (Gate City, Va.), freshman Adam Terry (Bristol, Va.) and senior Grayson McCarty (Marion, Va.) each won a pair of matches on the day.

How It Happened
Sunday against the Pacers, the Wasps again went ahead, 3-0, through doubles, dropping a total of three games across the three flights. Seniors Dalton Shipley (Gate City, Va.) and McCarty won their match at No. 3 by an 8-0 score.

In singles action, Marlow grabbed a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 while McCarty and Garrett won their matches 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.
