
INDIANAPOLIS – For the first time as a Division II institution, Emory & Henry University will be represented in the NCAA Championships. Junior Gavin Lee (North Tazewell, Va.) was selected to compete in the hammer throw at the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championships as announced on NCAA.com on Tuesday afternoon.

Lee, who won the 2025 South Atlantic Conference Championship in the hammer with a school-record mark of 59.54 meters, is seeded 21st in the event and will compete for a national championship on Thursday, May 22 at 3:30 p.m. MDT (5:30 p.m. Eastern).
The Tazewell High School graduate is a two-time SAC Champion in the event (2023, 2025), and placed 12th at the 2023 IC4A/ECAC National Championships during E&H's Division II provisional period.

In addition to being the first NCAA Qualifier in the University's Division II era, Lee is also the first NCAA qualifier in men's track & field since Troy Chandler competed and earned NCAA Division III All-America honors in the discus in 1987.
This year's NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be held at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl on the campus of Colorado State University Pueblo. The meet will begin on Thursday, May 22 and run through Saturday, May 24.
