Emory & Henry Men’s Cross Country Voted Eighth In ODAC Preseason Poll

FOREST, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men’s Cross Country Team has been selected eighth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll. The vote was taken amongst the league's 11 head coaches.

Under second-year Head Coach Ian Layne, E&H will look to senior Michael LoGrande (Alexandria, Va.) and juniors Zane Moran (Floyd, Va.) and Austin Tolbert (Wytheville, Va.) to better their eighth-place finish from a year ago.

“We are bringing back a lot talent from last year’s team, along with the return of Mike (LoGrande), who missed most of last season do to injury,” commented Layne. “We have always run very well at the ODAC championship meet and with the group we have I think we can make some special things happen this year.”

Washington and Lee University is tabbed to make it three straight league championships, earning 10 of the 11 first-place votes. Bridgewater College is second with the final nod while Lynchburg takes the third spot. Eastern Mennonite University and Roanoke College round out the top five.

Emory & Henry will open the season on Saturday, September 2 in the Western Carolina Invitational, hosted by Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. The ODAC Championship will be hosted by Virginia Wesleyan University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on Saturday, October 28.
