Emory & Henry Men’s & Women’s Swimming Defeat Bridgewater In ODAC Action Saturday

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Swimming Teams both went 1-1 on the day as they picked up Old Dominion Athletic Conference wins over Bridgewater College. The Wasps also swam against Lees-McRae College, a NCAA Division II member of the Conference Carolinas.

The Men
- Emory & Henry put up a second-place finish in the 200-meter medley relay (2:04.15) to get things started on the efforts of sophomore Blake Madaris (Acworth, Ga.), freshmen Luc Grillet (Matthews, N.C.) and Antonio Walters (Elon, N.C.) and senior Nick Barr (Chilhowie, Va.).
- Sophomore Braxton Justice (Spanishburg, W.Va.) was second in the 200-meter freestyle at 2:04.85 while freshman Noah Wilson (Frederick, Md.) finished third (2:15.59).
- Walters claimed third in the 50-free (:27.19) and the 100-free (1:02.46) as Grillet was second in the 200-meter breaststroke (2:39.41) and third in the 200-meter individual medley at 2:27.61.
- Freshman Ryan Spangler (Daleville, Va.) claimed runner-up honors in the 100-meter freestyle, with a swim of 1:02.42 while Wilson came in second in the 200-meter backstroke (2:25.49).
- The Wasps concluded the day with a second-place finish in the 400-meter freestyle relay at 4:02.65. The relay consisted of Justice, Spangler, Wilson and freshman Jackson Cheatham (Appomattox, Va.).

The Women
- Senior Olivia Anson (Apex, N.C.) gave the Wasps a pair of individual wins in back-to-back races, touching the wall first in the 200-meter freestyle (2:17.79) and the 50-meter freestyle (:28.57). She also took second in the 400-free (4:52.67).
- Sophomore Cat Sweigart (Bridgewater, Va.) finished second in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 3:01.53 and was third in the 200-meter individual medley at 2:44.30.
- Also in the 200-IM, sophomore Anne-Louise Tunstall (Mount Airy, N.C.) was the runner-up, stopping the watches in 2:44.24 while freshman Kenzie Welch (Knoxville, Tenn.) posted a second-place finish in the 200-backstroke (2:42.31) and was third in the 200-free (2:24.08).
- E&H's 200-meter medley relay, made up of Welch, Sweigart, Tunstall and sophomore Leah Mumpower (Bristol, Va.) claimed second in 2:15.88 to start the day.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will remain at home next Saturday for its final dual meet of the season. The men will host Hampden-Sydney College while the women will take on Sweet Briar College. The first event is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
