Emory & Henry Women's Tennis Defeats Shenandoah, 8-1, Thursday Evening

Winchester, Va. - The Emory & Henry women's tennis team (4-2, 1-0 ODAC) earned their first ODAC victory of the season in a matchup at Shenandoah University (3-2, 1-2 ODAC).  The victory is the second straight for the Wasps women's team. 

The team started the match off by winning the first two doubles competitions in tight matches Sveva Mazzari (San Remo, ITALY) and Savanna Summers (Bluff City, Tn.) took out the Hornets number one duo, 8-6.  Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.) and Kaitlin Meade (Staunton, Va.) play in a very tight match at two doubles, but ended up winning 9-7.  Three doubles was forefitted to Emory & Henry.

Mazzari walked over her counterpart at one singles in a 6-0, 6-0 rout.  Riner went down in the first set, but fought back to win a third set tie breaker 2-6, 6-2, 10-3.  The only loss came at the third flight, in which Summers fell 3-6, 4-6.  Sheaves won at four, 6-1, 6-2.  At five singles, Kaitlyn Sheaves (Coeburn, Va.) defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-4.  The Hornets also forefitted their six singles spot to ensure the Wasps 8-1 victory.

The Wasps next match is Friday at Lynchburg College.
