EMORY, Va. - Emory & Henry volleyball finished the season sixth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference which was an improvement from their seventh place finish last season. Despite a 13-17 (5-6 ODAC) record, the Wasps finished fourth in the ODAC in hitting percentage, blocks, and service aces.
Emory & Henry also saw three of its members named to All-ODAC teams after the 2015 season. Junior Kennady Thomason improved on her third team selection last year and was named to the second team this season. Thomason racked up 177 kills and a team-high 80 blocks on the season, and her 0.95 blocks per set was good for fourth in the ODAC. Junior Hannah Doss was named to an All-ODAC team for the first time in her career. The Meadowview, Virginia native, who led the team in kills and points, was a second team selection. Junior Tristen Pennington was named to the All-ODAC third team, marking the third straight year in which she has garnered all-conference honors. Pennington led the team in kills per set at 2.52 and points per set at 3.1. One of her most productive matches came against Bridgewater, in which she tallied 22 kills, 20 assists, and 9 digs.
Senior Natasha Moore played in a career-high 77 sets in her final season as a Wasp. The senior had 12 service aces, 23 digs, and five blocks. At libero, junior Emily Hinshaw led the conference in service aces with 60 on the season. She once again led the team in digs at 425, which was sixth in the conference and she amassed a career-high 65 points. As a defensive specialist, Breanna Wallen played in 25 matches and accumulated 94 digs.
Sophomore Ali Singleton played in 25 matches over the course of the season and nearly doubled her statistics from a year ago in kills, blocks, and points. Singleton finished third on the team in both kills and points. When injuries plagued the team, it was Singleton who provided leadership and solid play. Sophomore Sarah Scott led the team with 442 assists from her role as setter for the Wasps. She played in 28 matches and topped 20 assists eight times on the year.
