Bridgewater Volleyball Sweeps Emory & Henry, 3-0, Tuesday Evening In ODAC Finale

EMORY, Va. – The Bridgewater College Volleyball Team (21-5, 9-2 ODAC) earned a win in straight sets, 3-0, over Emory & Henry College (5-20, 2-10 ODAC) Tuesday evening in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play. The match was E&H's annual Dig Pink Night in support of the Side-Out Foundation and breast cancer research.

How It Happened
- The Eagles opened the match with a 7-2 run and pushed their lead to 11-5, forcing a Wasp timeout.  Midway through the set, Bridgewater went up by 19-10, cruising to the 25-14 victory.
- BC started the second frame with a slight advantage, but E&H would respond and tie things up at 16-all. Down 20-18, the Eagles got into gear and made it a 2-0 match by scoring seven of the final eight points.
- Bridgewater opened the third with a 5-0 run and pushed the margin to 11-3. Emory & Henry responded with five straight points of its own but would get no closer than three the rest of the way. A three-point serving run by the Eagles capped the match with a 6-2 run to win, 25-17.  

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior right-side hitter Rebecca Morehouse (Kingsport, Tenn.) had 10 kills to lead the Wasps while senior outside hitter Tori Holmberg (Wake Forest, N.C.) added nine kills.
- Senior setter Sam McCauley (Glade Spring, Va.) posted 22 assists while senior libero Huntre Baxter (Blountville, Tenn.) had a match-high 15 digs.

Bridgewater Individual Leaders
- Rachel Gaston went for 18 kills on a .516 hitting percentage and added eight digs, four blocks and two aces.
- Victoria Wilson posted a double-double with 34 assists and 10 digs while Madison Haynes had four service aces.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry will remain at home on Thursday when it hosts North Carolina Wesleyan College at 6:00 p.m.
- The match was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday, September 15 but was postponed due to Hurricane Florence.
