Intermont Equestrian’s Morgan Sollenberger Wins At 2016 IHSA Nationals Thursday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College continued its national champion form on Thursday at Day One of the 2016 Intercollegiate Horse Show Assocation National Finals at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Senior Morgan Sollenberger (Concord, N.C.) won the individual Novice Equitation Over Fences title for her second IHSA National Championship. With her victory, Sollenberger receives the Kevin M. Erwin Trophy and several other prizes. Sollenberger also won the Zone 4-Region 2 Championship and Zone 4 Championship in April.

Taking third place in the class was Wasp junior Nick Martino (Bel Air, Md.). Martino qualified for national competition as the Reserve Champion in both the Regional and Zone shows.

Sollenberger's championship marks the 30th individual title in Intermont Equestrian history and the second time a rider has won the Novice Over Fences class. It is the sixth championship since the program was taken over by Emory & Henry in the fall of 2014.

This year, Intermont Equestrian has won one team national championship, three individual national championships, a team reserve national championship and three individual reserve national championships.

The Wasps will have one final opportunity on Friday to bring home another trophy as sophomore Galen Reyes (Hixson, Tenn.) will show in the individual Walk/Trot Equitation competition.
