Intermont Equestrian’s Galen Reyes Takes Eighth At 2016 IHSA Nationals Friday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College closed out the 2015-16 season on Friday at the 2016 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National Finals. The championship event is being held at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Sophomore Galen Reyes (Hixson, Tenn.) posted an eighth-place finish in Walk/Trot Equitation out of 16 competitors. Reyes was the Zone 4-Region 2 Champion in Walk/Trot and took Reserve Champion honors in the discipline for Zone 4.

Stanford University's Sarah Lindsay was the champion of the class, winning the Hodges Badge Company Trophy.

On Thursday, E&H senior Morgan Sollenberger (Concord, N.C.) won Novice Equitation Over Fences while junior Nick Martino (Bel Air, Md.) was third.

This year, Intermont Equestrian won one team national championship, three individual national championships, a team reserve national championship and three individual reserve national championships.

Intermont Equestrian now holds 19 team national championships and 30 individual titles. The program has won six national championships (four individual, two team) since it was taken over by Emory & Henry in the fall of 2014.
