Intermont Equestrian Begins Championship Season This Weekend

BRISTOL, Va. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College teams will compete in a trio of national championship shows over the next three weekends. The program currently boasts 19 team national titles and 30 individual championships.

The Schedule

           Friday, April 28-Sunday, April 30
           hosted by Centenary (N.J.) University
- 2017 IHSA National Finals
           Thursday, May 4-Sunday, May 7
           hosted by The Kentucky Horse Park

American National Riding Commission
The ANRC Intercollegiate Equitation Championship will be hosted by the Savannah College of Art & Design at the Ronald C. Waranch Equestrian Center in Hardeeville, South Carolina. The championship is divided into National and Novice Levels and consists of four different sections across four days. ANRC is different from the other championships in that the horses come from the participating schools instead of via blind draw.

Day one consists of the Written Phase. The second and third days will see the Program Ride and Derby Phase competed at the Novice and National divisions, respectively. Scheduled for day four is the Medal Phase for both the National and Novice divisions. The top two scores for each team are counted and the sections are weighted in the following manner: Written (5%), Derby (30%), Medal (30%) and Program Ride (35%).

Intercollegiate Dressage Association
For a second year in a row, the IDA National Championships will be held at the Centenary (N.J.) University Equestrian Center in Long Valley, New Jersey. The championship will be split in three parts, the quiz challenge, individual championship and team championship which will be contested on Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday respectively.

E&H's representatives for the quiz challenge will be announced as the championship approaches.

Emory & Henry will have the most riders competing on individual day with eight. The Wasps won the Region H Championship in all four individual levels, earning automatic qualification for nationals. E&H also saw its riders finish as the reserve champions in each level, each of whom based on the IDA Wild Card tiebreaker will compete at the national show.
