Intermont Equestrian Finishes Third At 2017 IDA National Championship

LONG VALLEY, N.J. – The Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College IDA Team completed its season over the weekend at the 2017 Intercollegiate Dressage Association National Championship. The Wasps finished in third place out of 12 competing teams on Sunday and also posted strong individual showings during individual competition on Saturday.

Saturday - Individual Championships

First Level
- Senior Nick Martino (Bel Air, Md.) was fourth in the First Level competition while senior Mandy Snow (Bradford, Maine) took sixth.

Upper Training Level
- In the Upper Training Level, freshman Katie Maharis (Howard Beach, Queens, N.Y.) was third while junior Eli Worth-Jones (Abingdon, Va.) placed sixth.

Lower Training Level
- The Lower Training Level competition saw senior Sierra Davenport (Chilhowie, Va.) finish third and senior Taylor Carroll (Garner, N.C.) came in fifth.

Introductory Level
- Senior Hannah Phillips (Virginia Beach, Va.) notched a third-place finish in the Introductory Level as sophomore Emily Johnston (Gloucester, Va.) was fifth.

Sunday – Team Championship

- Martino got the day off to a strong start, finishing second in the First Level.
- Worth-Jones was 11th in Upper Training Level competition.
- Carroll notched a second-place finish for the Wasps in the Lower Training Level.
- Johnston came in third in the Introductory Level.
