EMORY, Va. – In conjunction with the Old Dominion Athletic Conference office, the Emory & Henry College Department of Athletics wishes to honor seniors whose seasons were unexpectedly cut short this spring by the COVID-19 Pandemic.

RELATED - ODAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Senior Recognition

Our recognitions conclude today with men's outdoor track & field on what would have been the start of the 2020 ODAC Championships. This pair of seniors has been instrumental in the return of track & field to Emory & Henry and especially its dominance in the throws.

Since the return to ODAC competition in the winter of 2019, Wasp throwers have won a pair of shot put championships and posted eight top-10 finishes at the league meet. They put four athletes in the top 10 in the discus last outdoor season, including the ODAC Runner-Up, and one top-10 in the hammer throw.

Justin Fannon

Justin is a native of Abingdon, Virginia and a graduate of Abingdon High School. Justin has been a member of the track & field team since its return to campus in the spring of 2018. He is a two-time All-ODAC performer in the shot put as he finished as the ODAC Runner-Up at the 2019 Indoor Championships and in third place at the 2019 Outdoor Championships. He just missed the podium this past winter, taking fourth at the 2020 ODAC Indoor Championships. He holds the school record for the hammer throw at 39.67 meters and the weight throw at 13.85 meters. Justin was also a three-year member of the Emory & Henry Football Team. A business and theology double major, Justin is weighing his options for graduate school between Appalachian State University, Campbell University and Emory University.

Trel Phillips

Trel is a native of Ooltewah, Tennesee and a graduate of The McCallie School. Trel has been a member of the track & field team since its return to campus in the spring of 2018.
