FOREST, Va. – The pairings for the 2016 Old Dominion Athletic Conference have been set as the 2015-16 regular season concluded Saturday evening. The Emory & Henry College Men will host Shenandoah University on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., while the Wasp women received a first-round bye and will play on Thursday at 8:00 p.m.
The Emory & Henry men (14-11, 8-8 ODAC) have earned a first home game in the ODAC Tournament First Round since the 2011-12 season. Finishing in a four-way tie for fifth place in the league, E&H had three victories amongst the tied teams, earning the fifth seed for the tournament. The Wasps will host #12 Shenandoah University (6-19, 3-13 ODAC) on Tuesday in a rematch of Saturday’s regular season finale. SU escaped Bob Johnson Court with an 80-78 win in that contest
The winner of Tuesday's game will earn the right to face fourth-seeded Guilford College at the Salem Civic Center on Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
On the women's side, Emory & Henry (18-7, 11-5 ODAC) finished in a tie for third and claimed the #3 seed via a head-to-head win against Washington and Lee University. E&H earns a first-round bye for the first time since the field was expanded to 12 teams in 2012-13 season, and its highest seed in the tournament since it was the #2 seed in 2003.
The Wasps will face off against the winner of #6 Bridgewater-#11 Randolph on Thursday evening at 8:00 p.m. at the Salem Civic Center. Emory & Henry defeated Randolph in both regular season meetings but fell to Bridgewater in overtime.
