ODAC Releases Pairings For 2018 Men's & Women's Basketball Tournaments

FOREST, Va. – The pairings for the 2018 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's & Women's Basketball Tournaments have been set as the 2017-18 regular season concluded Saturday night. The Emory & Henry College Women's Team has earned the #1 seed in the tournament by virtue of its first-place finish during the regular season. The Men's Team is seeded fourth after a two-step tiebreaker was used by the league office to resolve a four-team knot at second place.

The Emory & Henry Women (20-5, 13-3 ODAC) earn the top seed for just the second time in program history and the first since 1984. The Wasps are currently riding a nine-game winning streak, their longest since the 2002-03 season and are currently ranked No. 5 in the NCAA Division III South Region. E&H has a first-round bye for the third year in a row as it earned the #3 seed in the 2016 and 2017 tournaments.

Emory & Henry will face off against the winner of #9 Shenandoah-#8 Eastern Mennonite on Thursday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. The Wasps posted a pair of wins over SU during the regular season and earned a victory over EMU in the only meeting between the two teams.

On the men's side, fourth-seeded Emory & Henry posted a 19-6 (11-5 ODAC) record after opening the year 10-0 and rolling to an 18-1 mark with 10-straight conference wins. The Wasps reached as high as No. 19 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll during the season and are currently ranked No. 4 in the NCAA Division III South Region. E&H makes it back-to-back seasons with a first-round bye as they earned the #3 seed a year ago.

Emory & Henry will take on the winner of #5 Virginia Wesleyan-#12 Randolph on Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. The Wasps met both teams just once each during the regular season, defeating VWU at home and Randolph on the road.
