Emory & Henry Sees 113 Student-Athletes Named To ODAC All-Academic Team

FOREST, Va. – The Old Dominion Athletic Conference has released its All-Academic Team for the 2017-18 academic year. The number of honorees conference-wide set a new record for the ninth-straight year and climbed ever closer to the 2,000 mark with 1,994 student-athletes receiving recognition.

Eligibility for the ODAC All-Academic Team is open to any student-athlete that competes in a conference-sponsored sport, regardless of academic class. He or she must achieve at least a 3.25 grade point average for the year to be considered for an ODAC All-Academic Award.

Emory & Henry had 113 athletes named to the team. Nine other schools in the league saw over 100 student-athletes on the list with Washington and Lee University topping things out at 370. Also over 150 honorees were Shenandoah University (223), Randolph-Macon College (203), Lynchburg College (179) and Bridgewater College (166).

Emory & Henry was led by its football, women's soccer, men's cross country and women's tennis teams. The football team received the highest number of male honors with 23 while women's soccer led the female sports with 12. Men's cross country (67% – 4-of-6) led the way in percentage of men's student-athletes while women's tennis (71% – 5-of-7) had the top percentage of women's accolades per team.

Women's swimming (7-of-10 – 70%), women's basketball (7-of-13 – 53.8%), women's soccer (12-of-24 – 50%), softball (10-of-20 – 50%) and women's golf (2-of-4 – 50%) also saw at least half of their student-athletes receive All-Academic honors.
