INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Emory & Henry College Head Strength & Conditioning Coach Mike Caro recently presented research at the 41st Annual National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) National Conference. The conference was held from Wednesday, July 11 through Saturday, July 14 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Caro's research, titled "Performance and Body Composition Changes from Four Weeks of Modified APRE 10 Lifting Program in Division III Basketball Players" was a collaboration between Emory & Henry, the University of Missouri-Columbia and Eastern Kentucky University.

I'm proud to represent Emory & Henry College by presenting research on a national stage," commented Caro. "This research is based on work that our athletes are doing during their strength & conditioning training. The data that come from their hard work can help to move the field of strength & conditioning forward at a greater pace"

The goal of the research was to compare different programming models of strength & conditioning to find a more efficient training model given the limited number of contact hours available in any given year.

Additionally, Caro was recently selected as the chair of the NSCA's College Coaches special interest group. In leading the largest "SIG" in the NSCA for the next three years, Caro will help drive the direction of the group. He will work to enhance the goals of sharing knowledge and creating discussion amongst college strength & conditioning coaches.  One of Caro's primary goals is to help bridge the gap between sports science research and implementation through training programs.

"As the chair of the NSCA College Coaches SIG, I will be able to advocate for both collegiate strength coaches and student-athletes to make sure their athletic performance-related needs and concerns are addressed. This will serve to raise the level of performance of both groups," Caro added.
