Lincoln Memorial's Sells and Emory & Henry's Workman Recipients of SAC McGriff Insurance Services Minority Postgraduate Scholarship

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lincoln Memorial University's Micah Sells and Emory & Henry College's Zeke Workman have been awarded the South Atlantic Conference's McGriff Insurance Services Minority Postgraduate Scholarships, the Conference announced on Friday (May 19).

"We are honored to continue to partner with McGriff Insurance to award minority postgraduate scholarships to our outstanding student-athletes," said SAC Commissioner Patrick Britz. "The SAC continues its commitment to diversity and assisting student-athletes further their education. We are delighted to reward Micah and Zeke for the hard work and dedication that they have put in academically and athletically."

Sells, a senior from Lawrenceville, Ga., is a hurdler on the Railsplitter women's track & field team. She earned a top-10 finish at the 2023 SAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 100-meter hurdles, while finishing seventh in the 60-meter hurdles at the 2023 SAC Indoor Track & Field Championships.

A three-time SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll selection and member of the Alpha Chi and Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Societies, Sells holds a 3.899 GPA while majoring in Exercise Science. Upon graduating, Sells plans to attend the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center to pursue a Master of Prosthetics-Orthotics. 

Workman, a senior member of the Wasps men's tennis team from Dalzell, S.C., is a triple major in economics, political science, and Hispanic studies with a 3.85 GPA. An ITA Scholar-Athlete and All-Academic Team selection, Workman was a two-year member of the Emory & Henry men's soccer team, in addition to his four years on the men's tennis team. 

In addition to his athletic activities, Workman is a member of the Calliopean Literary Society, is a member of the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, Sigma Delta Pi, and is a Gilman Scholar. He spent a semester abroad in Spain, was a representative of Emory & Henry at the VFIC Ethics Debate Bowl, was a keynote speaker at Emory & Henry Orientation, and was an LSAC PLUS Undergraduate Scholar at Duke University's Law School. Upon graduation, Workman plans to attend law school to pursue a juris doctorate at one of the following schools: University of South Carolina, Georgetown, University of Florida, or Duke University.

The McGriff Insurance Services Minority Postgraduate Scholarships are awarded to SAC minority student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and have completed their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition. Both Sells and Workman will receive a one-time, non-renewable scholarship of $2,125 toward the graduate school of their choice.
