EMORY, Va. – Emory & Henry College Vice President for Athletics Dr. Anne Crutchfield has announced that Khalil Shakir has accepted the position of Director of External Operations within the Department of Athletics. Shakir began his new duties on June 1.

"Khalil is an incredibly talented and passionate young professional which is very important in this position," said Crutchfield. "He also has gained valuable experience and knowledge about the Emory & Henry community in his role on the men's basketball staff over the past two years. All of this will serve him well in his new role."

As Director of External Operations, Shakir will assist with marketing and promotions of Emory & Henry Athletics as it pertains to ticketing, fan engagement and sponsor and alumni relations.

"I look forward to being a great addition to our athletic department and really bringing a lot of new ideas to the table," commented Shakir. "I would like to thank the Emory & Henry Athletics Administration for entrusting me with this position."

Shakir recently completed his second year on the Emory & Henry men's basketball staff. He will continue to assist in that role, focusing on recruiting and player development.
