
EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry University Department of Athletics will induct the 2024 class of the E&H Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday, November 9. The ceremony to bestow the University's highest athletic honor will begin at 10:00 a.m. inside the John Rutledge King Center.
The 2024 Hall of Fame class consists of: former Head Softball Coach Tommy Forrester '04, Caleb Jennings '11 from football and former Head Football Coach Curt Newsome '82.
Forrester is the winningest softball coach in Emory & Henry history with a record of 217-137 over his nine years at the helm. He led E&H to the NCAA Division III Tournament on three separate occasions and his 2021 team finished tied for ninth in the country. Forrester finished his E&H coaching career with seven winning seasons and five out of the top seven winningest years in program history.
Jennings was a standout on the gridiron for the Wasps where he was a two-time All-American and three-time member of the All-ODAC First Team. His outstanding play during the 2009 campaign resulted in him winning the Lanier Award, which is awarded to the top football player at the Division II, III or NAIA level in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Newsome spent 10 years as the coach of the E&H Football Team from 2014-2023. He finished his Emory & Henry career with an overall record of 53-42 and had five seasons where his squad posted a winning record. Newsome was named the ODAC Coach of the Year in 2014 and the 2020 team reached the ODAC Championship Game under his guidance.
