EMORY, Va. – Emory & Henry University Director of Athletics Kyle Sensabaugh has announced that Dider Grillet has been hired as Director of Student-Athlete Success. Grillet will assume his new role on May 15.

"Didier is a great addition to our administrative team," said Sensabaugh. "He embodies everything E&H is about and has always been a huge supporter of all of our student-athletes. He has been an instructor in the health & human performance department so he has first-hand knowledge of what goes on in the classroom from the professor's position. He has always been an example of how to make sure students handle their business in the classroom first before the field."

As Director of Student-Athlete Success, Grillet will oversee a comprehensive student-athlete support program. The program includes monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes, academic planning, scheduling team study sessions, individual and group meetings, and communicating with coaches. He will also work closely with the University's Office of Student Success to provide comprehensive case management for student-athletes in crisis.

"I am very excited to take on a new role in the Department of Athletics Department as Director of Student-Athlete Success," commented Grillet. "As a student-athlete and a coach at Emory & Henry has been a life-changing and transformative experience, and I would not be the man I am today without the guidance and support I have received here. The reason I started coaching was to be that same type of resource for future generations of Wasps and I know that in my new role that I can be that type of resource for even more student-athletes."

Grillet recently completed his fifth year as Head Men's Soccer Coach and his eighth year on staff. During his time at the helm, he saw Louis Pereira-Scott selected to the All-South Atlantic Conference Third Team in 2022 and Tyequis Stallins named to the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference Third Team during his time as an assistant coach. In his time as head coach, 45 players were named to their respective all-academic team as well as five Academic All-District honorees.

"For the last 12 years I have been a member of this soccer program at every level," Grillet added. "I started as a recruit, came here to play and immediately joined the coaching staff upon graduation. In the summer of 2020, I was given an opportunity I will forever be grateful for as I became the Head Coach of the program that changed my life. I cherish every moment I've had with this program and will continue to support it for the rest of my life as I take the next step in my career."

Grillet was a four-year letterwinner for the Wasps in goal between 2013 and 2016, playing 4,743 minutes in goal across 55 matches. He concluded his career as the record-holder for wins and shutouts and is third all-time in career saves. The Charlotte, North Carolina native graduated from Emory & Henry in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in sport management.
