Emory & Henry Baseball defeats Virginia Intermont, 5-2

BRISTOL, Va. - Emory & Henry traveled to Virginia Intermont to play their last game of the season on Monday night. The Wasps defeated the Cobras, 5-2, to end the season with a victory.

The Wasps saw a total of eleven hit for the game. Josh McMillian saw one first thing as the leadoff batter. McMillian singled to center field, and Eric Houff singled to left field in the first inning. Emory & Henry took the lead early in the third inning when sacrifice flies from Will Schulof and Houff brought around Brogan Hoover and McMillian. Hoover reached base when singled to left, and McMillian reached with a double to left field.  

The Wasps again scored in third when Sam Line was able to cross home plate from a single to right field from McMillian, giving the Wasps a 3-0 lead over the Cobras. The Cobras did try to rally in the seventh inning, seeing 2 hits and scoring two runs, but the Wasps were able to score two more runs in the eighth to give them their 5-2 lead.

Josh McMillian led the Wasps in batting going 3-4 from the plate with one RBI. Josh Wingate and Brogan Hoover followed both going 2-4, and Wingate added 2 RBIs to his season stats also. Emory & Henry finishes the season 6-25 overall and 4-15 in ODAC conference play.
