In the bottom half of the fourth, the Generals got one run back on a sacrifice fly by Chris Nault. The two teams would play scoreless ball from there on out, with the final score of the opener settled at 5-2.

E&H senior Zach Jones (Fries, Va.) picked up the win on the hill, moving to 2-0 on the season. Jones went seven innings and scattered two runs and seven hits across the span, striking out two. Sophomore Ricky Sowers (Blacksburg, Va.) was credited with the save.
