Collin Metz Named ODAC Baseball Player Of The Week

FOREST, Va. - Emory & Henry College's Collin Metz has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday afternoon. It is the first time this season that an E&H player has received this honor.

The senior from Cape Coral, Fla., led the Wasps to a 3-0 week, with a pair of league wins over Guilford on Saturday and a non-conference victory against Virginia Intermont last Tuesday.

Metz went 9-for-13 at the plate with two home runs and three RBI on the week. He tallied multi-hit games in all three contests, reaching base a total of 10 times in 15 plate appearances.

Metz has caught all but one inning for Emory & Henry this season. He leads the team in batting average (.375), and is tied for second in runs scored (29) and home runs (four). He is third in doubles (15) and RBI (26) on the year.

Emory & Henry finished tied for third in the league this year and has qualified for the 2012 ODAC Tournament. The Wasps will face the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at City Stadium in Lynchburg, home of the Lynchburg Hillcats.
