Emory & Henry Baseball Earns Third Seed For 2012 ODAC Tournament

Emory & Henry Baseball Earns Third Seed For 2012 ODAC Tournament

FOREST, Va. - After finishing tied for third during the Old Dominion Athletic Conference regular season, the Emory & Henry College Baseball Team has reached the ODAC Tournament for the first time since 1999. The Wasps earned the third seed thanks to their win over regular season champion Lynchburg College.

E&H will open play in the league's double-elimination tournament against #4 Randolph-Macon College on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The tournament is being held at Calvin Falwell Field at City Stadium in Lynchburg, home of the Carolina League's Lynchburg Hillcats.

All of Emory & Henry's contests in the ODAC Tournament will be featured on the GoWasps.com E-Cast and can be reached by clicking HERE.

Emory & Henry was picked to finish 10th and last in the ODAC this season, but became the Cinderella story of the league, finishing in a tie for third place. That finish equaled the team's highest ODAC finish ever in 1977, the first year of the conference. The Wasps relied on timely hitting and were able to put together several come-from-behind victories over the course of the year.

In the regular season meeting between E&H and R-MC, the Wasps claimed a 19-13 victory in game one, pounding out 24 hits, including nine for extra bases.  In the nightcap, Randolph-Macon eked out a 4-3 win before the contest was called after eight innings due to darkness.

E&H will either play the 3:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. game on Friday, depending on their result against R-MC. The schedule for the weekend will be announced Friday night.
